2nd Annual Round for the Hounds
Victory Lap Greyhound Transport, friends and golf enthusiasts headed to Ellwood City, PA, Sunday afternoon, May 5, to participate in the 2nd Annual Round for the Hounds Golf Outing benefit at Olde Stonewall Golf Club. Western PA's Premier Golf Destination, Olde Stonewall is celebrating 20 years and features an 18-hole, par 72 golf course and a clubhouse renowned for its banquet and dining facilities.
Round for the Hounds supports Victory Lap Greyhound Transport's mission in transporting retired racing greyhounds to waiting adoption groups. Thousands of greyhounds retire from the track each year and are in need of a loving home.
Victory Lap Greyhound Transport (VLAP) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization operating as an Affiliate Chapter of Greyhound Pets of America (GPA). In 2017, the group purchased a 2007 International bus and had it successfully converted into a dog hauler with 14 large-size crates to safely accommodate up to 26 greyhounds. The bus is equipped with all the amenities needed to ensure the safe and comfortable travel of the hounds and their human volunteers. In order for VLAP to successfully maintain its mission, funds need to be raised continually throughout the year to help offset transportation costs. Transportation costs include fuel, routine and unexpected maintenance, all applicable insurances, and any possible emergencies while on a haul.
